Kazakh oil and gas will be transported to Europe via Turkey, President Nursultan Nazarbayev said Thursday after signing a strategic partnership agreement in Ankara with President Abdullah Gul.
Turkish President Abdullah Gul and his visiting counterpart from Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, said Turkey would transport Kazakh oil and natural gas to Europe after signing a strategic partnership agreement in the presence of reporters on Thursday.
"Economic cooperation between Turkey and Kazakhstan has significantly progressed," Gul said, adding that Turkey will transit its ally's natural resources.
"Kazakh oil will be pumped into the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline. It will then be sold to Europe from Ceyhan (on the Mediterranean coast). We also welcome the fact that Kazakhstan has shown interest in the Nabucco project," Gul said.
